Years & Years anunciaba hace unas semanas que la formación continuará como un proyecto en solitario liderado por Olly Alexander, aunque sus otros miembros Emre Turkmen y Mikey Goldsworthy seguirán estando estrechamente conectados al grupo en un papel secundario.
Como primer lanzamiento de esta nueva etapa del grupo, ya está disponible en todas las plataformas de streaming el single ‘Starstruck‘, que se edita como single de presentación del tercer trabajo discográfico de Years & Years.
En el comunicado que acompaña este lanzamiento, Olly comenta que el tema «surgió una noche en un estudio en el campo a las afueras de Londres. No recordaba la última vez que había visto tantas estrellas, te acostumbras a que no estén cuando vives en la ciudad. Desde que hemos tenido que parar, lo único que quiero hacer es salir a bailar. Así que he volcado toda esa energía acumulada en la música.
‘Starstruck’ trata sobre el subidón que sientes cuando estás con alguien que te gusta de verdad, se trata de aferrarse a un buen sentimiento y no dejarlo escapar. Como la mayoría de nosotros, he pasado el último año en casa y quería crear algo súper positivo y divertido para que la gente (y yo mismo) lo acompañara. Hagamos lo que hagamos o estemos donde estemos en la vida, creo que todos nos merecemos tres minutos de éxtasis interestelar».
El single ‘Starstruck‘ viene acompañado de un videoclip dirigido por Fred Rowson.
